IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS Personal Air Purification Shield is designed to be used close to the user, continuously treating the small area of air around the breathing zone. It makes close-range air treatment more practical for everyday use.

IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS combines three core technologies—plasma sterilization, electrostatic dust collection, and negative ion purification—so air treatment near the user is not limited to a single function, but works as an integrated system within one machine. It is not intended to replace masks, face shields, or whole-room air purifiers. Instead, it helps treat the small area of air closest to where a person actually stays and breathes, allowing personal barrier protection, close-range air treatment, and whole-room air treatment to work together as a more complete indoor protection approach.

The high-voltage ionization system has always been one of the core technical foundations behind IONFRESHER® products. Without stable high voltage, there can be no stable plasma ionization. In both the DC 12V generation and the USB 5V generation, the key issue is not the power specification itself, but whether the system can continuously deliver a stable and usable high-voltage output that supports plasma ionization.

IONFRESHER® moved from DC 12V to USB 5V not to remove the original high-voltage requirement, but to rebuild the high-voltage ionization system under a lower-power condition while keeping it stable, usable, and suitable for everyday operation. This was not a minor adjustment, but a meaningful technical step forward. For the product itself, the change not only made it better suited to the Personal Air Purification Shield concept, but also created clear practical value in the market.

In the DC 12V generation, the unit relied on an external AC-to-DC 12V adapter for power. As the product entered real-world use across different countries, front-end power conditions became more complex. After moving to USB 5V, the external adapter was eliminated, the front-end power structure became simpler, and interference from the external power chain was significantly reduced. This not only improved product stability, but also made the product easier to sell in some countries where stable sales had been more difficult during the DC 12V generation.

However, changing the power supply to USB 5V did not reduce the technical challenge. It made the challenge greater. The real difficulty lies in maintaining stable high-voltage output, stable discharge, and stable plasma ionization under such a low-voltage power condition, while also allowing the entire machine to operate reliably over long periods of time. It cannot work only briefly or only under limited conditions. It must become a product technology that can truly enter everyday use.

For this reason, the 5V high-voltage generator is one of the core technical foundations that makes the IONFRESHER® USB 5V generation possible. Its value lies not only in the shift to USB 5V itself, but also in delivering lower interference risk, higher product stability, and broader market applicability.

The real technical value is not simply changing the power supply from 12V to 5V, but building a stable high-voltage system under USB 5V conditions that can continuously support plasma ionization. That is exactly what IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS has now achieved.

The 5V High-Voltage System: The Foundation of the Entire Operating Mechanism

The entire operating mechanism of the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS is built on a stable 5V high-voltage system. This system does more than supply power. It converts a 5V input into the high-voltage output required for air ionization. Once stable high voltage is established, plasma sterilization, electrostatic dust collection, and negative ion purification can all operate together within the same structural module.

1. Plasma Sterilization

Plasma sterilization in the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS begins with the main plasma ionization zone formed by the Needle-Tip Electrode Array (01). Once the 5V high-voltage system reaches stable output, a stable plasma ionization field forms around the Needle-Tip Electrode Array (01). As bacteria, viruses, and mold spores pass through this zone, their activity may be affected. As airborne particles pass through it, they are more easily ionized and charged.

This is why plasma sterilization in the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS does not depend on high airflow. Instead, it depends on a stable high-voltage ionization environment. The key is not to force air through quickly, but to allow airborne particles and microorganisms to pass through a continuously active ionization zone.

In other words, the Needle-Tip Electrode Array (01) does not create a single discharge point. It creates an extended plasma ionization zone that remains stable, uniform, and continuously active. This is the first step that makes plasma sterilization possible in the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS.

2. Electrostatic Dust Collection

After airborne particles pass through the ionization zone formed by the Needle-Tip Electrode Array (01), some become charged and are more easily attracted to the Stainless-Steel Collection Plates (02) on both sides. This is the basis of electrostatic dust collection in the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS.

The Stainless-Steel Collection Plates (02) are not filters. They are the actual collection surfaces used in electrostatic dust collection. Rather than relying on disposable filter media, the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS allows charged particles to adhere to reusable stainless-steel surfaces that can be cleaned and used again. That is why it can still help capture dust and fine particles without disposable filters.

The entire dust collection structure is integrated into the Cartridge Dust Collection Module (03), allowing the user to remove the module directly for cleaning and maintenance. In other words, electrostatic dust collection in the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS is built not only into the operating principle itself, but also into the product’s maintenance design.

3. Negative Ion Purification

In addition to the main plasma ionization zone, the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS also includes a Negative Ion Emitter (04), which continuously releases negative ions into the surrounding air through the Negative Ion Outlet (05). The Negative Ion Emitter (04) shares the same high-voltage source as the main system, but it does not create the main dust collection zone. Its role is to direct negative ions steadily from inside the unit into the near-body air environment around the user.

Because of this structure, the effect of the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS does not stop inside the unit. It also extends into the air surrounding the user. These negative ions help suspended particles settle more easily and support a cleaner, fresher near-body air experience.

The negative ion concentration of the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS can reach approximately 6 million ions/cm³. In other words, the Negative Ion Emitter (04) and Negative Ion Outlet (05) are not minor add-on features. They are dedicated structures that allow negative ion purification to operate as one of the three core technologies of the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS.

The IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS has no fan and no motor, yet once the power button is pressed, a gentle and continuous airflow can be felt from the front grille. This airflow is ion wind.

Ion wind occurs when the 5V high-voltage system operates steadily and establishes a high-voltage ionization field in the main operating zone. As ions and charged particles move directionally within this field, they also draw the surrounding air into a weak but continuous airflow.

Air enters through the rear intake grille, passes through the main operating zone, and moves through the high-voltage ionization field. During this process, microorganisms are affected by ionization, while airborne particles become more easily ionized and charged. Some of these charged particles are then attracted to the stainless-steel collection plates. As a result, cleaner air emerges from the front grille as a continuous and perceptible airflow.

In other words, the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS is not a product without airflow. It simply does not rely on the high-volume airflow of a traditional fan. What it creates instead is a quieter, gentler, and more near-body-friendly form of air movement.

Ion wind is important because without airflow, airborne particles and microorganisms would not continue passing through the main operating zone. Under real-use conditions, plasma sterilization, electrostatic dust collection, and negative ion purification would then be difficult to sustain continuously.

That is why the IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS is able to keep its three core technologies operating continuously within the near-body zone, even without a fan or motor.

IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS does not require a fan or external blower to operate, but favorable surrounding airflow can further enhance its real-world performance.

When IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS operates using high-voltage plasma discharge, some oxygen molecules in the air become energized and form ozone. This is not an added substance, but a natural byproduct of plasma interacting with air.

Because only a small fraction of oxygen molecules are converted in this process, the amount of ozone produced remains limited.

The ozone concentration of IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS is below 0.02 ppm, well below the widely referenced international benchmark of 0.05 ppm.

Ozone also does not remain at a fixed concentration in the air for long. Instead, it gradually declines over time. Part of it returns to the more stable form of oxygen, while another part may be consumed through contact with airborne particles, odor molecules, or surrounding surfaces.

As a result, ozone does not continue to accumulate, but naturally declines toward a more stable state.

Abnormality Detection and Resolution

CHECK Red Light

When the CHECK red light turns on, the system has not confirmed that proper high-voltage conditions have been established.

At this point, press the power button twice in succession to recheck the system status.

If the issue has been cleared, the indicator light will return to green.

1. Design Principle

The IONFRESHER® LS-212 PLUS can operate normally only when proper high-voltage conditions have been established. If the system detects that these conditions have not been established, the CHECK red light will turn on.

This usually happens when the Cartridge Dust Collection Module is not fully seated, or when too much dust has accumulated on the Stainless-Steel Collection Plates. Once the cause has been removed, the indicator light will change from red to green after the system is rechecked.

2. Troubleshooting

If the CHECK red light remains on, turn the unit off and inspect the Cartridge Dust Collection Module.

Make sure the module is fully inserted and properly seated.

If excessive dust has built up, clean the Stainless-Steel Collection Plates. After cleaning, reinstall the module, turn the unit on, and check the indicator light again.

If the green light turns on, the unit is operating normally. If the red light remains on, the issue has not been cleared.

3. Return for Factory Service

If the CHECK red light remains on after the steps above, stop using the unit and return it to the manufacturer for inspection and service.

4. Additional Note

The CHECK red light does not mean the unit has failed. It means the system has not confirmed normal high-voltage operation and has entered a recheck state.

This design helps prevent the unit from continuing to operate under abnormal conditions. If the cause of the issue is not removed, the unit should not continue to be used and will not return to normal operation.
